IQOS ILUMA as a better alternative

Tobacco at the tip of cigarettes burns at a high temperature, producing a large amount of harmful chemicals contained in smoke.

Unlike cigarettes, IQOS ILUMA heats tobacco to a much lower temperature. Hence, there are differences between cigarettes and this particular tobacco heating system.

IQOS ILUMA doesn’t burn tobacco, producing on average 98% less carbon monoxide (CO) and significantly lower levels of other harmful chemicals compared to cigarettes. Cigarettes produce high amount of carbon monoxide, IQOS ILUMA- doesn't.*

* This does not mean a 98% reduction in risk, and carbon monoxide is only one of many harmful chemicals in cigarette smoke. We measured the levels of the 9 harmful chemicals the World Health Organization recommends to reduce in cigarette smoke, which do not include nicotine, and these are reduced on average by 95%.

Tar is the residue from smoke after a cigarette is burned.
IQOS ILUMA does not produce tar, it generates an aerosol residue that is fundamentally different from tar and emits 95% lower levels of harmful chemicals compared to cigarettes.*

* Important information. It does not necessarily equal a 95% reduction in risk. IQOS is not risk-free. “95% less” represents the average reduction in levels of the 9 chemicals recommended for reduction in cigarette smoke by the World Health Organization, which do not include nicotine.

Why One Should Not Combine IQOS ILUMA with Cigarettes

If you were smoking cigarettes for a long time and started using IQOS ILUMA, the experience might seem a little unusual for you in the beginning.

The reason is that while smoking a cigarette, the smoker also inhales the smoke, which causes a heavy/thick feeling in the chest.

IQOS ILUMA SMARTCORE™ Induction Technology heats tobacco instead of burning it. As a result, there is no smoke and ash, therefore the feeling is different.

Satisfaction comes from nicotine, and the level of nicotine is completely proportional to the level of nicotine in cigarettes and directly depends on the intensity of puffs.

How and where to measure the level of CO gas in your body?

There is a special device for measuring the level of carbon monoxide (CO), which can be used to measure the concentration of CO in your exhaled air. By the way, the device is available in all official IQOS stores.

It shows how much CO is measured in your exhaled air in parts per million. In the table below you can see how the different CO measurements are characterized.

As you can see, the level of CO in exhaled air is different for cigarette smokers and non-smokers.

In order to reach satiety, it’s important to not use cigarettes for at least 2 weeks. This way you will give yourself some time to get used to this new smokeless alternative.
